Kent State Stays Unbeaten with 1-0 Win Over St. Bonaventure

The Golden Flashes capture their first shutout victory since 2009 season; Repas notches game-winner

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's soccer team (2-0-0) showed its fitness and depth Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over St. Bonaventure at Zoeller Field.

That depth proved vital as reserve forward Megan Repas (Avon Lake, Ohio) tallied the game's lone goal in the 75th minute. Repas teamed up with freshman Stephanie Haugh (Richmond Hill, Ontario) to put pressure on the St. Bonaventure defense and forced a turnover. Repas gathered the ball, took two quick touches and fired a 15-yard shot past Bonnies goalkeeper Megan Junker.

On the defensive end, Kent State fended off 12 St. Bonaventure shots and eight corner kicks to keep the sheet clean. Senior Kelly Sherwood (Strongsville, Ohio) made three saves for Kent State's first shutout since the 2009 season.

For the game, Kent State posted a 13-12 lead in shots, with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.

The Golden Flashes hit the road for a trio of away contests, starting Friday, Aug. 26 at Morehead State for a 7 p.m. contest.
