Kent State Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Akron
AKRON, Ohio -- The Kent State volleyball team suffered a tough five-set loss, 3-2 (25-15, 25-17, 22-25, 25-27, 12-15), in a Mid-American Conference East Division showdown at rival Akron today (Nov. 5) at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Junior Liva Brivule (Riga, Latvia) led the Golden Flashes (10-18, 3-10 MAC) with 21 kills and achieved a double-double with 11 digs. Sophomore Meredith Paskert (Brecksville, Ohio) and senior Lauren Jones (Kentwood, Mich.) also reached double figures in kills with 19 and 11, respectively. Freshman Aleksandra Nowak (Damnica, Poland) posted 51 set assists. Brivule also led the way on the defensive end with seven blocks (two solo, five assisted) while sophomore Kathy Krupa (Burbank, Ill.) posted six (six assisted) and senior Celia Sabo (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) added five (five assisted). Senior Kristen Barr (Bowling Green, Ohio) tallied 23 digs, matching her personal season high.
Kent State takes on Buffalo Saturday (Nov. 6) at 7 p.m.
