Jones Earns Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND -- Kent State senior outside hitter Lauren Jones (Kentwood, Mich.) has been named to the 2010 Volleyball Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions, the conference office announced today (Jan. 3).

 

A nutrition and dietetics major carrying a 3.66 grade point average, Jones proved to be Kent State's most versatile player in 2010, appearing at outside hitter, setter and libero. She finished the season second on the team with a career-high 328 digs in addition to totaling a career-best 298 set assists. Jones finished her four-year career with the Golden Flashes ranking fifth in school history with 1,150 digs in addition to tallying 865 career kills, 124 service aces and 410 set assists.

 

A total of 18 student-athletes were named to the Volleyball Academic All-MAC team. The number of honorees on the MAC All-Academic Team is the number that is set for the specific sport or 33% of the number of nominees, whichever is greater.

 

The Golden Flashes finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 13-19, placing third in the Mid-American Conference East Division with a 6-10 record after finishing the regular season strong on a three-match winning streak.
