Cline Joins Kent State Volleyball Coaching Staff

KENT, Ohio -- Kent State head volleyball coach Glen Conley announced the addition of Rob Cline to the program’s coaching staff Thursday (Aug. 5).

"I am very excited to be here and am ready to get started and contribute to the program," said Cline.

Cline, a 2001 graduate of KSU, returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach after serving as the head coach at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School for three years, leading the Bees to conference, sectional, district, and regional championships. The highlight of Cline’s tenure came in 2008 when Brecksville-Broadview Heights earned a trip to the OHSAA Division 1 State Final Four.

“Rob is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He’s excited to return to his alma mater and help create a championship volleyball program,” said Conley. “He’ll serve as our offensive coordinator and work with the setters. We’re all very excited to have Rob join our staff.”

Cline owns an overall coaching record of 57-18, garnering Southwestern Conference and District 2 Division 1 Coach of the Year accolades in 2009.

Cline also assisted in the creation of the Academy for Volleyball Cleveland’s National Program.  He coached the 17-1 National Team to a fifth-place finish in the American Division at the 2010 USAV Girls Junior National Championships.

Kent State’s 2010 season begins with the Spartan Classic in Norfolk, Va., Aug. 27-28. The Golden Flashes’ home opener is Aug. 31 against Pittsburgh at the M.A.C. Center.
