Kent State Volleyball Falls To Wofford In SIU Edwardsville Invitational

Larsen records team-high 11 kills while Zeigler totals team-high 10 digs in the loss.

 

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Kent State volleyball team suffered its first setback of the 2011 campaign, falling to Wofford, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-16), Friday (Aug. 26) in its second match of the SIU Edwardsville Invitational.

 

Senior Maigan Larsen (Lancaster, Wis.) led the Golden Flashes (1-1) offensively with a team-high 11 kills in the loss to the Terriers (2-0), which was the first ever meeting between the two programs. Sophomore Aleksandra Nowak (Damnica, Poland) tallied a team-high 19 set assists while senior Brooke Zeigler (Parkman, Ohio) recorded 10 digs to lead the defense.

 

Kent State concludes its opening weekend with a 10 a.m. match against Western Illinois and a 3 p.m. tussle with Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 3 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 27) at the Vadalabene Center. 

 

Kent State fans will have the opportunity to get their first look at the Golden Flashes in 2011 next Tuesday (Aug. 30) when the squad welcomes Youngstown State to the M.A.C.
