Curtis began his career with Kent State Athletics in August of 2012 and became a full-time Learning Specialist in October 2014. In his current role, he is the Learning Specialist for Baseball, Women's Basketball, Men's Golf, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Soccer, Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country, Wrestling, and Volleyball. He is currently the supervisor for the George L. Jenkins Student-Athlete Academic Center and oversees the FlashReady Freshmen Orientation program in conjunction with the Academic Success Center on campus.

Curtis is a graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in Education and a M. Ed. in Higher Education Administration. He is a native of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and currently resides in Stow, Ohio, with his wife, Valerie, and their two children, Reagan and J.B. He came to Kent State after a decade-long career as a golf professional.
