
Flashes Drop Twin Bill to Chippewas

MT Pleasant, MI- The Golden Flashes dropped both ends of a double header on Tuesday at Central Michigan, falling in the first game 3-0 and 10-2 in the nightcap.
GAME ONE | CMU 3 Kent State 0
The Flashes dropped a pitcher's duel in the opener on Tuesday. Central scratched across two runs in the third, stringing together three base hits. The third came with the bases loaded, driving in a pair. Central added one more in the fifth with the Flashes cutting down a pair of runs at the plate in the inning.
Kent State got two on in the first and again in the fifth, but couldn't bring a run home. Six different Flashes recorded a hit in the opener. Anilese Kelly pitched well in the opener, going the distance, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five.
GAME TWO | CMU 10 Kent State 2
Central got out to a hot start in game two, stringing together three hits in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair on a two-run triple. The Chippewas added a third run in the second and it would stay that way until the fourth. Julia Mazanec and Bri Despines led off the inning with singles and a pair of flyballs would move Mazanec over and in to make it a 3-1 game.
The Chippewas would break it open in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of two-run homers to make it a 7-1 ball game. Mazanec and Despines would spark the offense again in the sixth. Mazanec led off with a single and went to third on a Despines double. An RBI-groundout would bring home Mazanec. However, Central would strike for three more in the bottom of the sixth to walk-off via the run rule.
The Flashes now sit at 3-4 in conference play and 8-19 overall. The two teams will wrap up the three-game series on Wednesday with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
